Peptides are signaling molecules comprised of building blocks called amino acids. When the number of amino acids is less than about 50 these molecules are named peptides while larger sequences are referred to as proteins.
Abbreviated Nomenclature of Synthetic Polypeptides
Abbreviated Nomenclature of Synthetic Polypeptides (Polymerized Amino Acids)" provides the 1971 Recommendations of the IUPAC-IUB Commission on Biochemical Nomenclature (CBN). Sections covering the topic include: Definitions; Recommendations (Designation of Blocks or Linear Polymers, Designation of Branches and Branch Points, Block size & The Molar Percentage); Examples; and References. The CBN is responsible to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB). Made available on the Web by the Department of Chemistry, Queen Mary University of London.
American Peptide Society
The American Peptide Society (APS), a nonprofit scientific and educational organization founded in 1990, provides a forum for advancing and promoting knowledge of the chemistry and biology of peptides. The approximately one thousand members of the Society come from North America and from more than thirty other countries throughout the world.
Amino Acid Information
A good references page describing general properties (e.g., structures and protecting group masses), suggested amino acid substitutions, chemical properties (e.g., chemical classification and hydrophobicity), structural properties (e.g., peptide bond angles and Chou-Fasman parameters), and genetic properties. Original references for all the tables are also provided.
Amino acid overview
A basic reference covering the structure and chemical properties of amino acids. Individual amino acids and other terms are hyperlinked to more in depth descriptions. From Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia.
European Peptide Society
Website of the European Peptide Society (EPS). The European Peptide Society is a non-profit association established to promote in Europe and in certain neighboring countries the advancement of education and in particular the scientific study of the chemistry, biochemistry, and biology of peptides.

PepBank is a database of peptides based on sequence text mining and public peptide data sources. Only peptides that are 20 amino acids or shorter are stored. Only peptides with available sequences are stored.
The goal of this project is to collect all information about peptides, dipeptides and proteins in one place. Information about peptide library, peptide bond, solid-phase peptide synthesis and application of synthetic peptides is featured.
Peptide Retention Time Calculations
New sequence-specific correction factors for prediction of peptide retention in RP-HPLC: application to protein identification by off-line HPLC-MALDI-MS. This version has been developed for the same set of ~2700 tryptic peptides and features new correction factors related to a peptide's propensity to form helical structures. Correlation about 0.98 (R-squared value) was obtained for the training set of 2700 peptides.
This site for protein chemists and others who does protein chemistry for the analysis and chromatography of proteins including modifications and spectroscopy.
